This honour puts India's relationship with Russia on the same footing as China. Prime Minister Modi also called for an end to the war in Ukraine, urging Putin to explore diplomatic options. The West has been closely monitoring PM Modi's Russia visit. The United States expressed concern about India's relationship with Russia, while Ukrainian President Zelensky called Putin a "criminal" and said Modi's visit undermined peace efforts. Prime Minister Modi addressed the recent airstrikes in Kyiv, including the attack on a children's hospital, directly with Putin.
