| Video Discription | Not all whales are dolphins but all dolphins are whales. Dolphins are grouped with the "toothed whales" like belugas and sperm whales. Generally speaking, dolphins are just the smaller species in this group, though some dolphins, like the orca, can reach whale sized proportions (hence their confusing common name, killer whale). Dolphins are separated from porpoises by their body shape: dolphins are typically more streamlined and have a hooked, rounded dorsal fin, while porpoises have a triangular dorsal fin and a more round body shape. There are just over 40 living dolphin species and while some prefer coastal environments others live out over the deep ocean.
