As the pre-monsoon showers hit the city beautiful and its nearby areas, it providing the much-needed respite from the scorching heat and extreme humid weather that had been prevailing in the region for the last few days. The day-time temperature at some parts in the region had crossed 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which along with the high humidity had made the living conditions tough for the people, especially those moving out of their homes. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
