| Video Discription | Rathasapthami signifies the journey of the Sun in the north-easterly direction. It is believed that on this day the Sun God turns his Chariot driven by seven horses towards the northern direction. It is also considered as the birthday of the Sun God (Surya Jayanthi). Taking a holy bath in the morning with 7 Arga (Erruku/Giant Milk weed) leaves with akshadhai (rice mixed with turmeric) keeping 1 on the head, 2 on the shoulders, 2 on the knees and 2 on the feet is an age old custom and tradition. Chanting this Snana Sloka while taking the holy bath with the Arka leaves relieves us from the sins committed during our seven births. The Arka (Errukku) leaves reflects the energy of the Sun and hence keeping it on our head increases our energy!! Chanting Surya Mantras during the day is considered to be auspicious and beneficial!!
