Actors Roger Rees, Alessandro Nivola and Charlotte Parry join us to discuss their roles in the Broadway revival of Terence Rattigan's classic 1947 drama "The Winslow Boy." This production was created at London's Old Vic and transferred to Broadway by Roundabout Theatre Company. Set in 1913, the iconic British play deals with a family's fight for justice during which they lose almost everything they once valued, yet gain so much more. Next, we take a look back at a Theater Talk interview from 2011 during Rattigan's centenary celebration, with critics John Simon and John Heilpern plus actor Edward Hibbert discussing Rattigan's career as England's most important playwright, as well as the reversal of his artistic reputation when the British cultural elites subsequently rejected his work in favor of the more modern and dynamic works of Osborne, Pinter and Beckett. |
