For those who don't know, I started my remote job search as a FlexJobs member. I signed up for the 3 month membership and the rest is history. Here's my story: I am a military spouse, I was working in news at the crack of dawn each day, I'm a mom to two kids at home, and at the time, my husband was about to get deployed overseas with the Army. Working in an office while putting myself and my family first, was not going to be possible. The commute was terrible. The fact I couldn't take breaks and clean up or do some laundry, really made my evenings more stressful. I wasted money on expensive lunches that really weren't that healthy to begin with. I was not excited about the idea of continuing this lifestyle while also being in charge of the house and the kids while my husband was gone. So, I joined FlexJobs and I started my search for a great remote job. I chose FlexJobs because I was really nervous about job scams. There are so many horror stories out there. And, there are a ton of job scams out there, especially on those other job sites. The FlexJobs researchers hand-screen every job and company before they add them to the database. That made me feel much safer in my job search and I ultimately found a handful of great jobs that I was being considered for within a month. FlexJobs was actually one of the companies interested in me. I got the job, put in my 2 weeks, and I started a much better way to work. It helped my family, it helped my mental health, it gave me more joy to be present in all aspects of my life.
