| Video Discription | Loud humming noises coming from your refrigerator are often parts that are loose and vibrating while the condenser fan or compressor is running. However, if your condenser fan stops turning and cooling the compressor and condenser the compressor may start to struggle to do its job and will begin to make an increasingly loud humming noise and overheat and not turn off. THIS IS NOT A REPAIR VIDEO BUT TO SHOW YOU THE NOISE A REFRIGERATOR CAN MAKE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. My refrigerator is an old GE model and has had a low humming noise as long as I have owned it but in the last 2 days the noise became much louder and I noticed the refrigerator never stopped running. The sides of the refrigerator became very warm. I removed the cardboard back and while the condenser was surprisingly clean the condenser fan motor was encrusted with matted dust and not turning even when nudged with my fingers. I used a vacuum and brush to remove as much dirt as I could and when I moved the blades again the fan began to turn. The next day the fan stopped again so I added some exterior lubrication which did very little as the motor is sealed but the motor did spin again when budged and continued to do so. I plugged a small fan behind the refrigerator as back up and also reduced the cold settings to medium in the refrigerator as they were on close to high. if it continues to be a problem I will replace it. There are many videos on YT showing how to replace or even lubricate and repair the refrigerator condenser fan but none of them played the noise the refrigerator makes when it stops working.
