Currently, Reliance is undergoing a significant shift in its business operation. The company is investing heavily in the retail segment and made a number of acquisitions recently. For their digital business, the company has partnered with Google, Facebook and Microsoft to promote ease of living and ease of doing business. Also, Jio is soon going to launch 5G in India. Talking about their oil to chemical business, the company has restructured the entire business in order to increase the overall efficiency. Recently, the company has also started to invest in the latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Renewable Energy, Sodium-ion Battery Technology, Lithium-ion Battery Technology, SkyTran, Green Hydrogen and the company has also partnered with British Petroleum in order to build charging infrastructure in the country. The company is also in talk with UK's coffee chain Pret a Manger. Also, Reliance is planning to set up a vast FMCG business to compete again with HUL, P&G and Nestle. Reliance will have a major competitive advantage over all other FMCG players as Reliance also run it retail business so the company will be in the position to handle the entire process from manufacturing to retail sales. This will give Reliance a cost and margin advantage over its competitors. The numbers of the company are impressive but the profit margin is a bit less as of now. Net profit is around 8% but it is expected to improve in the coming quarters as the company has hiked the Jio tariff. Also, the company is investing heavily in the Retail Segment by opening new stores and acquiring different companies. So currently, margins are under pressure but in the long run, they should improve as the business continues to grow.
