Reims has played a vital role in coronations and wars, most notably World War II (WW2). Reims Cathedral, Notre Dame de Reims, gives her sister in Paris a run for her money! In this Reims City Guide, we take you around this charming champagne town to explore the Reims Cathedral, as well as, the historical figures and events that make this city so special. The surrender that ended WW2 was signed in a schoolhouse-turned-war room right in the heart of the city. You can visit the exact room, totally untouched and learn all about the role the city played in the second world war. The history of Reims goes back even farther, all the way to Roman times and there are still remnants of the ancient city it used to be. Our Reims city guide will take you to an ancient city gate and then on to tales of Joan of Arc. Reims, France is one of our favorite cities in the world – usually because of the champagne – but after exploring it through a historical tour we appreciate it that much more.
