Video Discription |
In this week’s episode, Matt and Tyler looked at the differences between trading SPY vs SPX vs XSP, and reviewed the risks associated with options exercise, assignment, and expiration. We reveal why the backtests for SPY short strangles perform better (higher return and higher Sharpe) than the same strategy on XSP. However, SPY can be riskier to trade due to its nature of being an American style option, which can be exercised at any time prior to expiration. SPX and XSP are European style options, which cannot be exercised before expiration. Matt ends the show by placing several strangles on XSP.

Always perform your own due diligence and, as appropriate, make informed decisions with the help of a licensed financial professional.
Commissions, fees and other costs associated with investing or trading may vary from broker to broker. All investors and traders are advised to speak with their stock broker or investment adviser about these costs.
