| Video Discription | Military Versus Civilian Salary Comparison As a member of the Armed Forces, we get many things subsidised due to the nature of our jobs. This is great whilst we are serving but can come as a bit of a shock to people when they finally leave the military. In this video, I set out to show how much I would need to earn in a civilian job in order to maintain the same lifestyle that I live now. Currently as a Corporal in the British Army, I earn around £33,200 per year, with my take home pay being around £2,221.21 per month. My expenses are split up roughly with 44% of my take home pay going towards my needs, 25% towards wants, 27% towards saving/investing and the remaining 4% is to do with what I wish. So, would my British Army salary be enough to sustain the same lifestyle if I was a civilian?
