| Video Discription | Join us as we go Wandering Out Yonder and capture some of the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, as well as do a walk through of the very famous Charter Street Cemetery, located in Salem MA. The Salem Witch Trials Memorial was built in 1992 to honor the 300th anniversary of the Salem Witch Trials. It is the first memorial in Salem dedicated to the witch trials. There are 20 stone benches, each which represents a person executed in the infamous 1692 witch trials. Each bench features etchings of the name, execution date, and means of execution of the victims. The Witch Trials Memorial is located on Liberty Street between Charter Street and Derby Street. This memorial is free to guests, who often leave flowers, notes, cards & gifts as a token of remembrance. Several black locust trees were planted on the grounds of the memorial which many believed to be the type of tree the victims were hanged from. The victims honored at the memorial are: Bridget Bishop, Sarah Good, Elizabeth Hower, Susannah Martin, Rebecca Nurse, Sarah Wildes, George Burroughs, Martha Carrier, John Willard, George Jacobs SR, John Proctor, Alice Parker, Mary Parker, Ann Pudeator, Wilmot Redd, Margaret Scott, Samuel Wardell , Martha Corey, Mary Easty & Giles Corey. Charter Street Cemetery is Salem’s oldest cemetery, and is the final resting place for many historic figures and residents of Salem. The Charter St Cemetery was founded in 1637. This cemetery is also believed to be one of the oldest European burial grounds in the country. We hope you enjoy the video!
