| Video Discription | Sky News host Chris Kenny warned the appointment of former Labor advisor Samantha Mostyn as Australia’s next Governor-General is unlikely to work out well for her or the Prime Minister. Ms Mostyn will be sworn into the role on July 1, taking over from David Hurley who has been serving as the country's Governor-General since 2019. Mr Kenny stressed his opinions are not a poor reflection on Ms Mostyn but her work as an activist means she should not be appointed for the role. “The Crown's representative is supposed to show tireless disinterest, tireless objectivity and to be tirelessly apolitical,” he said. “I think the temptation for Sam Mostyn to weigh in will be irresistible. I hope she doesn't.” He added that Ms Mostyn has previously backed almost every “woke cause”. |
