I am thankful to my SIL Hema for sharing her MIL’s Special recipe with me💕 #sambarsadam #specialsambarsadam #masterchefmomrecipes Special Sambar Sadam by Masterchefmom Recipe Courtesy: Hema Srikanth 1 cup rice 1/2 cup toor dal 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1-2 tsp sesame oil lemon size tamarind ( soak in. 1 cup warm water and extract juice) 1/2 tsp jaggery salt to taste For the sambar masala: 1.5 tsp chana dal 1.5 tsp coriander seeds 1/2 tsp methi seeds 1/2 tsp urad dal 1/2 tsp jeera 1/2 tsp black peppercorns 5-6 dry red chillies( adjust) 2 onion 2 tomato 1 sprig curry leaves 1-2 tsp sesame oil To temper: 1 tbsp ghee(or oil) 1 tsp mustard seeds Large Pinch of asafoetida curry leaves Special Notes: You need not add all the sambar masala that you have ground. It might become too spicy. Taste and adjust. Plus, the masala keeps good for 2-3 days. Refrigerate and use it . You can mix it with the reserved sambar. You can add boiled toor dal and it will become a fantastic sambar for the following day. This sambar is so good for lunch box too. It will not dry up.
