Despited the use of the word toast in the name it isn’t an open-faced sandwich. Kaya is a coconut jam of sorts usually flavored with pandan leaves. I went to a couple of Asian grocery stores to see if they had any fresh pandas leaves but no luck. So I did the nest best thing and bought some pandan kaya imported from Singapore.
