About Temple: Sankaṭ Mochan Hanumān Temple is part of the community of learning and practice within Mount Madonna Center. The temple was built and is maintained by the residents and volunteers at Mount Madonna Center founded in 1978, and shares the land with several other activities. These include MMC programs and retreats, Mount Madonna Children's School PK-12th, founded 1979, Mount Madonna Institute founded 2005 for adult education in Ayurveda, yoga and community studies, and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple founded 2003. It is our mission to welcome all who come and to provide an environment that is conducive to the attainment of peace. As of September 2022-- In-Person visit hours are limited to Saturday from 11AM to 7PM and Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM. Slots for visits are ONLINE ONLY & open up at 9AM PST every morning, so make sure you cope up with the rush and book your visit...Note: As of today you can only book 1 Car per Account. if you are planning to come with multiple cars then please make sure you have appointments booked from multiple cars. Our Review: While driving here make sure you have offline maps downloaded on your phone in case you lose network. Maintain peace at the place while visiting--Keep in mind that it is an active place of worship and your utmost respect is required! Children should not be running around, dogs are not allowed, and voices should be kept low. Shoes must be taken off before stepping into the "landing" (if you wish to keep your shoes on you can walk around the perimeter, which still affords very good views of the intricate carvings and decorations). Many times there are worshippers singing or praying out loud, which is cool to experience. Sometimes someone is even willing to explain some of what is going on (of course be respectful if you choose to ask, this is not a show). There is also a cafe and a great gift shop nearby. Visiting the temple is free, but the Mt Madonna Center staff ask that you make reservations online ahead of time so they can keep track of parking needs.
