Shares of multibagger Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) Ltd. snapped their four-day gaining streak. The stock surged from ₹240.53 on July 9, 2024 to ₹310 on July 15, implying a gain of about 30% in the preceding four sessions. However, IREDA shares declined as much as 5% today (July 16) to hit an intraday low of ₹273.15. The stock hit a record high of ₹310 earlier on Monday. Brokerage firm PhillipCapital has retained their 'Sell' recommendation on IREDA Ltd., with a revised price target of ₹130, implies a potential downside of 58% from the stock's intraday high of ₹310. PhillipCapital earlier had a price target of ₹110 on the stock. The brokerage said that the best is already factored into the price for the stock. PhillipCapital also mentioned that the recent rally in the IREDA stock was driven by passive flows rather than any major fundamental reason.IREDA's asset quality improved on a sequential basis. Its gross NPA came in at 2.19% as against 2.36% in March, while net NPA improved to 0.95% from 0.99% in March. The company's net interest income or NII for the June quarter rose 37.6% from last year to ₹507.8 crore. PhillipCapital in its note said that IREDA's strong loan growth and pipeline provides visibility on balance sheet growth. The company managed its yields well. As the leverage in the balance sheet increases, the brokerage expects net interest margin to come under pressure. IREDA is expected to see strong loan growth at a CAGR of 25% over the financial year 2024-26 on rising demand for renewable energy in India. But the earnings growth is not expected to match the loan growth due to pressure on margins, according to PhillipCapital.
