During the day, the Sensex touched new record high at 40312.07 but the rally fizzled out towards the end. The 30-share index ended was at 40,129.05, up 77.18 points or 0.19%. However, the Nifty is far from touching fresh high. The Nifty closed at 11,877.45, up 33.35 points or 0.28%.
