In this video, you will see Roo learn that she can be safe in this building, that treats show up on the floor and in my hand. She has only been with me for four days and does not yet fully trust me, so I am being very cautious and intentional with her. I move slowly, speak to her calmly and in a moderate tone. I verbally mark and reinforce any behavior she will offer me that is good for both of us and pay freely. Does she understand all of it? Nope, and that isn't even my goal. I want her to learn how to manipulate me! This will help her feel more in control of her circumstances, increase her confidence in herself, and help in building trust in me. Baby steps, baby steps.
