| Video Discription | Electricity is connected at either 230V AC single phase or 400V AC 3 phase. The 230V single phase is what we typically have in our homes. It accounts for most domestic situations, such as lighting and television. Single phase power has two wires – the active and neutral (neutral is earthed at the switchboard). For 3 Phase Power, it is more common in industry and used by larger commercial users. This is because it is better suited for more powerful appliances and fixed plant. In other words, it allows for a greater electrical load. In contrast to Single Phase, it has fours wires – three active and one neutral (neutral is earthed at the switchboard).
