The director spoke to ABC News on Monday about the shooting and said a “sloped roof” was why agents were not on the building. “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she said. “And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.” Cheatle admitted the rooftop used by Thomas Matthews Crooks was a security vulnerability, yet it was still not secured. Retired FBI supervisory special agent and Army veteran James Gagliano was confused by the director's reasoning. “You just have to work with the terrain you’re presented with,” he said. |
