It is a joint venture by the Maharashtra and Goa government. The dam is located near the border of Maharashtra and Goa and the water is distributed among both the states. Tillari River is a west flowing river originating from Sahyadri mountain in Chandgad taluka of Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, crosses Maharashtra State near village Maneri to enter Goa State, where it is popularly known as Chapora, before falling into the Arabian Sea. The Tillari dam was completed in all respects in May 2009. The vegetation in the corridor primarily comprises tropical moist deciduous and tropical semi-evergreen forests (Champion and Seth, 1968). The main species found here include Terminalia paniculata, Memecylon umbellatum, Syzygium spp., Olea diocea, Actinodaphne hookeri, Tectona grandis, Terminalia tomentosa, Delbergia latifolia, Adina cardifolia, and Madhuca indica. The composition and structure of these forests vary widely as we move along the length of the corridor.
