It gives them a chance to give back to that local community, and they can really choose how they want to do that. Through the different programs that we have, there is something that caters to absolutely everyone. “I was interested in volunteering. I have done it all my life, but I was looking for an organization that reached out to the community.” “I started in early part of 2009 as a medical first responder and I just loved it so much that I continued with the organization.” “ Well, there was an advertisement for St. John in London Search and Rescue and I happened to be there and I joined, and that was close to eight years ago and now I am currently the unit chief, so it’s been a wild ride ever since.” “For me, giving back to the community is why I am here. Most often, I spend my weekends providing medical first response services across my community and it is just a great joy to help others that are in need.” “The biggest thing I get out of volunteering is giving back to the community. I get to meet a ton of people. I get to interact with just as many.” “I get to go out into the community and see what is happening in our community and I find it very satisfying to go out and volunteer.” “When I go into a facility and I see the joy on people’s faces, when you walk out, you have a warm heart, and you just know that you’ve done something wonderful for the world.” “And you go home with that feeling, and it just makes your day. It’s one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself, and help out your community. It’s giving back. It’s all about giving back.” “Being able to give back to the community, being involved, being a leader, seeing the impact that you are making on Canadians, our volunteers do a fantastic job.” “Get off the couch, get off the computer and get out of the house and run to the nearest St. John branch. It’s the best-kept secret out there.” |
