The top 3 contenders for the post are - Pratibha Singh, Mukesh Agnihotri and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Pratibha Singh is wife for former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh. Virbhadra Singh was a tall leader from the hill state and former CM too. Pratibha didn't make her electoral debut with a win but has now cemented the Virbhadra Singh family's position in Himachal's politics. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was the campaign committee chief of the Congress for this election.
