| Video Discription | The SULU HORNBILL is endemic to the Sulu Archipelago but currently exists only in Tawi-Tawi Island. It is now classified as "critically endangered". While it is safe to assume that some of the rarest wildlife species in the world are critically endangered and are so close to extinction that the option of captive breeding seems like the most viable and only option, it is also naive not to consider the capabilities of local communities to watch over their natural habitats. Keeping in mind that habitats are a shared space, for both humans and animals to enjoy. With the right knowledge and capacity for local communities, dedication to conservation may not be far behind, and perhaps the ex situ option will never be the only option for these species. This is the vision of the people of Tawi-iTawi for the critically endangered Sulu Hornbill: By 2050, the Sulu Hornbill has viable populations within its protected historic range, sustainably managed by empowered communities through a culturally-centred successful conservation program that brings pride, ecosystems services and socio-economic benefits to the people. This Vision was drafted by stakeholders and local communities including the Tawsi (local name for the Sulu Hornbill) Rangers during a Conservation workshop held on March 4-5, 2019 sponsored by IUCN and other biodiversity conservation partners.) LET US ALL WORK TOGETHER FOR NATURE TO THRIVE, FOR BOTH HUMANS AND ANIMALS TO ENJOY.
