The Court declared that the extension granted to Mishra was illegal as it violated its earlier Directors. Mishra's term was originally said to conclude in November 2023. However, the Court upheld the constitutional validity of the Amendment in the Central Vigilance Commission and the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act which provided five-year tenure for the Directors of ED & CBI.
