A lot of this lands and a lot doesn’t, as is bound to happen when there so much going on. I deeply admire how clever it is in parts. The cement factory, which is supposed to hold the town together like cement, gets burnt to the ground in the very first episode, the chaos, confusion and anger from which branches off like a many-limbed demon all over the city. Par to the demon’s own folly, Mayanna Kollai festival is on, a celebration of a female goddess feasting on the dead and decaying, until she finds the bad guy and kills him too. And its these very relationships and close bonds which also tie people together in crime. Many parallel sub-plots develop, telling the viewer the time investment the show requires will be worth their while, and surely enough, the finale is rousing and deeply moving, because of how well we know everyone by then.
