| Video Discription | Yes, this is the last airport before the North Pole. There are more northerly airbases (Resolute in Canada for example) but for commercial passengers this is the limit. No visa is required to visit as per the terms of the Svalbard Treaty. However, flights do not come cheap and there are no international flights - just domestic from Oslo and Tromsø. This film looks briefly at the origins of the airport and the tragic aviation disaster that contributed to the abandonment of the Russian mining town of Pyramiden.
