| Video Discription | As part of FROM THE ATTIC and her doctoral work, Dr Swarnamalya Ganesh had reconstructed SIVALILA, a Nayak period dance repertoire. It was performed in the courts and temples at Tanjavur, Madurai and Ginger until the later half of the 18th century. A Saivaite dance, this is a rare and unique dance employing a different stance and gait. Performed to rare musical instruments, some also played by the dancers themselves. FROM THE ATTIC is a performance series that showcases the revival and reconstructed dances.
