| Video Discription | Young Afghans in the capital Kabul have been finding it hard to adjust to life under Taliban rule, with many no longer feeling safe to wear Western clothing or experiment with their hairstyles. Ahmad Fahim, 18, has a whole cabinet full of jeans and t-shirts, but has to wear a traditional shalwar kameez when going out. "Most of my clothes are jeans and T-shirts and I can't wear them anymore, so I have no other option other than to burn them," he said. The Taliban are back in power after 20 years in a city that's drastically changed. Once warriors embedded in Afghanistan's rugged mountains, now they are an urban police force. Shortly after the Taliban captured the capital, videos circulated on social media showing officers humiliating a young man who was dressed in Western clothing. Now many young people can be seen wearing traditional garments, unlike a couple of months ago. Bilal Ahmad has been selling suits in Kabul for the last 10 years. He said he lost most of his clients since the Taliban returned and now only gets a few customers who come for wedding shopping. "We ask the government to let people be free to live the way they want," he said. Barber shops have felt the changes too, with clients avoiding trimming their beards or opting for creative haircuts. Beard trimming has been banned in parts of the country. "Most people are not trimming their beard in different styles, because they are scared," said hairdresser Shir Ahmad. During their previous rule of Afghanistan, the Taliban adhered to a harsh interpretation of Islam. Since taking control of the country, the world has been watching to see whether they will re-create their strict governance of the late 1990s.
