She was daughter of late Dr. Chintamani Ganguly who was by profession a Homeopathy doctor and late Smt.Hemlata Ganguly -Housewife . She was the youngest one among all her siblings. From her early childhood days when she was just 5 years old, she was very fond of music and used to hear different types of songs in radio. When her family noticed her Musical talent, her brothers and sisters all encouraged her and gave her full support . She was always a great devotee of Sandhya Mukherjee and treated her as 'GuruMaa' and got her blessings. She was very talented and was blessed with a very beautiful voice, surprisingly her vocal accent was just like her Guru Maa. Her distinctive voice and the vocal range that extended over more than three octaves. Her musical journey started when she was just 10 years old. She was trained at her home by her Guruji Sri Balaram Das. In 1968 All India Radio 'Yuvabani Kolkata' started to take audition where she participated, her Ist 2 very known songs which she performed at A.I.R was " Hoito kichui Nahi Pabo" and " Jibone to Prem Ekbari". She was selected as a junior Artist in Yuvabani Kolkata both in Adhunik and Nazrul Geeti. In the year 1977 she got married to a wonderful person Sri Purnendu Nanda ,the person who always stood by her side and helped her in every aspect and gave her a total support for her musical career. She was blessed with three daughters. She managed everything very efficiently. In the year 1989 she joined "Chhaya Hindol Group" which was founded by renowned artist, vocalist Sri Manabendra Mukherjee. She took training in Nazrul- Geeti and Adhunik from him for about 2 years. Later she was trained in Modern Adhunik songs by Sri Sunil Deb who was a namely music composer in All India Radio. In the year 1995 again she gave audition for "General" in All India Radio. She passed and became B - High Grade artist in "Akashbani Kolkata". In the year 1996 She performed Nazrul Geeti and Adhunik at "Doordarshan Kolkata". She attended and performed at many programme , functions which was organised by different groups in and outside Kolkata. In the year 2012, 12th January she took her last breath ,due to severe illness. A true Artist never dies. This is a small tribute to my grandmother on her Birthday. She was always very kind, soft hearted with a pure soul. Here I have uploaded some songs which she performed at All India Radio, Kolkata which are directly record from radio, some of her rehearsal songs at home. *Note*- There may be some disturbances in the sound quality , so some of the songs can be heard clearly while some may not, as they were recorded long time ago i.e ,many years back. I have tried to store these precious songs as a memory of my grandmother , by uploading it on Youtube. Whoever wish to hear it, they can hear with a little patience and time. LOVE FOR ALL😊💕 |
