| Video Discription | Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, MHA has provided ‘Y+’ category security to Taranjit Sandhu. Taranjit Sandhu, who recently joined the BJP, was the former Indian Ambassador to the US. He has been granted security cover across India following an order issued by Ministry of Home Affairs. He has been given security cover based on a recent threat analysis report received from Intelligence Bureau. Notably, Sandhu is not the first bureaucrat to switch to politics under PM Narendra Modi’s regime. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, Union Minister Hardeep Puri are the two prominent examples. Contesting Lok Sabha Polls from Amritsar, Sandhu is a 1988-batch Indian Foreign Services Officer. Also, he is the grandson of former Congress leader and SGPC founding member Teja Singh Samundri. Punjab will go to polls in the seventh phase and last phase of the Lok Sabha Elections on June 01.
