Despite winning for the third time, BJP MLA T Raja Singh refused to take oath in front of AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi was appointed as Pro-tem Speaker of the State Assembly on Dec 08 by Telangana Governor. Akbaruddin Owaisi’s appointment as Telangana Pro-tem Speaker has irked BJP leaders as they refused to attend his sworn-in ceremony. Moreover, the BJP delegation, which consists of several leaders, also met Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan over the issue. However, despite the absence of BJP leaders, Akbaruddin Owaisi took oath as a pro-tem speaker at Telangana Legislative Assembly. The oath was administered by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. Congress won an absolute majority in Telangana for the first time, winning 64 of 119 seats.
