| Video Discription | The TGV stands for "high-speed train" in English. It is France's intercity high-speed rail service, operated by SNCF(National society of French railroads) who worked on a high-speed rail network from 1966 to 1974. Originally designed as turbotrains powered by gas turbines TGV evolved into electric trains with the oil crisis of 1973. Following the inaugural service between Paris and Lyon in 1981, the network, centered on Paris, has expanded to connect major cities across France and in neighbouring countries. The TGV network in France carries about 110 million passengers a year. The TGV has set many world speed records. In 3 April 2007, when a new version of the TGV with the larger wheels broke the speed limit reaching 574.8 km/h. The SNCF has a remarkable safety record too. After nearly 30 years in operation, SNCF's TGV system has only experienced one fatal accident, which occurred not in regular operation. TGVs are the pride of French railways, running at up to 300 km/h linking towns and cities across much of France. Trains reach 320 km/h on the newer routes. Some TGVs are single-deck, while most of them are are double-deck TGV Duplex. From 2017 domestic TGVs have been marketed under the new brand name, inOui, which means unheard of or exceptional... 1st class on all TGVs has spacious seats with armrests and reclining seats arranged 2+1 across the width. All 1st class seats have power-points for laptops & mobiles. Second class on all TGVs has comfortable seats with armrests, arranged 2+2 across width. There are drop-down tables for laptops although laptop/mobile power sockets are not always fitted in 2nd class. One important feature is that here are no luggage limits, you can pretty much take what you like carry. There are many racks above your head, between the seats or at the car ends. All TGVs have a café-bar serving hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, a few hot snacks, small bottles of wine & spirits. The café-bar is located in the centre of the train between the 1st & 2nd class. There is a standing area where you can eat & drink or you can take your purchases back to your seat. On all European trains you are free to bring your own food and drink (including beer or wine) on board if you like. Every car has a toilet which is small but very clean. When I got into it, I remembered the status of trains in our country. The time has passed when we should model the civic sense of a nation that cares for the welfare of others. Monitors are placed on both sides of the car which provide all the information like time, train speed, next station and arrival time. The journey to Lourdes is about four and a half hours from Paris. TGV is a system that gives us the fastest and most comfortable long journeys without causing any fatigue. This facility is available today in most of the countries in the European Union. Our guide was waiting for us on the platform. After taking some photos in front of the train, we came out. From Paris to our final destination, Frankfurt, Germany, we are travelling through six countries in the same bus. That bus is on its way from Paris to Lourdes. Another bus has come here to take us to the hotel. From tomorrow, the next journeys will be in the old bus. Today's stay is at Hotel Alba here. This is where the Virgin Mary appeared 18 times to a 14-year-old peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirus. Prayers and services here are believed to bring true blessings to the pilgrims. Since the first apparition in 1858, 70 confirmed miracles have taken place at Lourdes to date. 5 million devotees from 140 countries come to this small town of only 15000 people every year to seek blessings in.
