These are informed by the teaching of seminar thinkers Lewis has reviewed, and demonstrate that the imaginative framework it produces means that while not irrational, the medieval mind did not understand things only on an empirical level. The spiritual significance of the model was in some ways at odds with the spatio-temporal.
