Threatened with annihilation by Kuomintang forces, they were determined to preserve their strength and head north to confront the Japanese invasion. And so, the Central Red Army, the 25th Army Group and the 4th Front Red Army, along with the main units of the 2nd and 6th Army Groups, left their bases. Led by the Communist Party of China, they embarked on one of the greatest military exploits in human history.
