| Video Discription | Designer Jozeph Forakis' project “Heli-X won Finmeccanica’s 2016 “Flydeas for the City” initiative. Launched in Milan last year, in cooperation with the Italian design magazine INTERNI, the competition aimed to develop radically innovative solutions for the dedicated VIP cabin interior for the revolutionary AW609 aircraft: the first commercially available tiltrotor in the world. In winning by unanimous selection of the jury, Forakis’ project was chosen amongst proposals by international designers from Italy, France, Japan, Brazil. In their official press release, Finmeccanica recognized Forakis’ project “HELI-X” for it’s “highly innovative solutions concerning materials, lighting, graphics, use of digital technologies, ability to meet company’s guidelines and ergonomics”. Designer’s Statement: “Since I was a young boy I fantasized about designing airplanes and spaceships. Being selected to design the AW609 – one of most innovative aircraft in the history of aviation – is truly the realization of a dream! “For the design I sought to emphasize conscientious comfort, transparency, lightness and efficiency, expressing my philosophy of thoughtful evolution and seamless integration. “I wanted to make a design which is futuristic, but realizable. Based on science fact, not science fiction, it combines forward thinking, advanced materials and digital technologies.
