| Video Discription | Treasury Board President Mona Fortier held an update on Monday after the government reached a tentative agreement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), putting an end to a strike that had lasted about two weeks involving more than 120,000 public servants. Fortier said she appreciates Canadians' patience and understanding as negotiations played out over the past two weeks. “This wasn't easy. We negotiated, we compromised, and we found creative solutions. And after many long days, nights and weekends of hard work, we've reached a fair and competitive deal for employees,” Fortier said. The union says the new contract agreement provides wage increases totaling 12.6 per cent over four years, along with a one-time, pensionable $2,500 lump-sum payment. It also says members will have access to additional protection when the employer makes arbitrary decisions about remote work. PSAC said strike action continues for 35,000 Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) workers nationwide, with contract negotiations ongoing. Telework, wages and job security are some of the key issues still at play, according to PSAC.
