Truman gave a major foreign policy speech to a joint session of Congress, outlining what is known as the Truman Doctrine. The speech asked Congress to support democracy and peace in Greece and Turkey by providing money, military, and civilian aid. This newsreel shows scenes of Greece with information about the troubles it faces, in addition to excerpts from President Truman's speech. This newsreel is an excerpt from a larger compilation of newsreels called a "Memory Album" from March, 1947. This newsreel was produced by Paramount News.
