| Video Discription | Jinnamgwan Hall was built as the official Jeolla Jwasuyeong (Naval Headquarters), the base that led Joseon's armed forces to victory during the Japanese Invasions of 1592 and 1597. The building covers 826m2, making it the largest extant regional government building to this day. Jinnamgwan Hall was built at the site of Jinhaeru Pavilion where Admiral Yi Sun-sin orchestrated his troops. Gosodae, where Admiral Yi gave his orders, enshrines two monuments dedicated to the great admiral. The two monuments were buried at Gyeongbokgung Palace during the Japanese Colonial Period, but were returned to Korea when it regained its independence. Jinnamgwan Hall, which was destroyed during Japan's occupation of Korea, will soon be restored to its original form. |
