Twisted Metal’s iconic classic sports car, Spectre, appears in every game except Twisted Metal 4 and the PS3 reboot, and remains a lasting staple of the franchise. Along with Hammerhead, it is one of the only vehicles to be driven by a different person in each appearance. In Twisted Metal 1, Spectre is depicted as a white 1965 Corvette piloted by a literal ghost. In Twisted Metal 2, Spectre is still a 60’s corvette, but loses its tail fins while it gains a sleek blue strip. It’s driven by a man obsessed with fame. In Twisted Metal III, Spectre gets its biggest change yet, taking the form of a blue 1996 Dodge Viper with a white stripe and is once again controlled by a man who desperately wants to be famous. In Twisted Metal: Black, Spectre is once again a corvette, but this time driven by a woman who is looking for hot singles in her area. In Twisted Metal: Small Brawl, Spectre is an RC car that vaguely resembles the Mach 5 car from speed racer and is driven by a shy kid who wears a sheet. In Twisted Metal: Head On, Spectre is back to being a white car with a blue stripe and has a spoiler depending on what version of the game you play. PSP has spoiler, PS2 does not. It’s piloted a third time by a man who just wants to be famous. |
