| Video Discription | Taking a bold step towards equality and uniformity, the Dhami cabinet in Uttarakhand has approved the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Intending to bring a harmonious balance through equality, the UCC draft contains provisions for legalizing live-in relationships, banning polygamy, and making marriage registration obligatory. It is set to level the playing field for women, granting them equal rights in divorce proceedings and establishing the legal marriage age as 18 for women and 21 for men. Furthermore, the UCC guarantees an equal share of inheritance rights for girls. However, Scheduled tribes have been kept outside the purview of the UCC.
