| Video Discription | (27 Apr 2014) Hundreds of residents marched through downtown Lviv on Sunday wearing traditional embroidered shirts and placards bearing the insignia of a WWII group linked to the Waffen-SS. The divisive 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Ukrainian), formed in 1943, fought under German command against the Soviet army in WWII. Despite a current ban on holding protests in Ukraine, they marched through Lviv to commemorate the group and shouted "Glory to Ukraine!" and "Glory to Heroes!" as they walked. Past marches have led to clashes between marchers and Soviet army veterans and left-wing groups. Also called the Galician division, the group was formed to exclusively fight "Bolsheviks". After WWII, the group were acquitted of war crimes at various tribunals and commissions, but still create tension between political groups and affiliations today.
