| Video Discription | A contemporary artwork aimed at restoring a lost cultural property, Wafaa Bilal’s 168:01 at the Aga Khan Museum invites people to help to rebuild a Baghdad library. In 2003, the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad lost their entire library due to looters who set fire to the collection during the invasion of Iraq. As Wafaa Bilal explains in this animation, his artwork starts out as shelves of blank white books. Over the run of the exhibition, visitors transform the installation ¬– and change the lives of students and faculty at the University of Baghdad’s College of Fine Arts – by donating educational texts. The exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum runs July 14 to Aug 19, 2018, but donations can be made at any time. “With your help, we can come together to rectify cultural violence,” Wafaa Bilal says.
