Watch his Primer video explanation first: http://youtu.be/ZDqrbjxa-Kw This is a "basic" fridge. Has an ice maker in the freezer and that is all. No exterior lights. The wattage settles down to around 130W when running but it takes a minute to get there from when it kicks on. Your electricity rates are likely as complicated as mine so this will give you a reference point and ground rules for understanding the series of videos and results without having to explain it each time. The "published rates" per kWh for GA Power standard plan are: From June -Sept or SUMMER 0-650 kWh 5.39 cents- I call LOW tier 650-1000 8.96 over 1000 9.26 - I put these next 2 together as HIGH tier at a 70% increase from low tier. From Oct-May or WINTER - I don't make a distinction for this season because it is about the same rates for everyone no matter the levels of usage. In fact it goes down. It is more significant to point out the huge variance in the peak demand months of Summer where conservation has more impact on your bill. 0-650 kWh 5.39 cents 650-1000 4.63 over 1000 4.52 I calculated where the break point would be from LOW to HIGH tier based on a total bill at that is about $90 per month. If yours is above that, for example, then you are going to pay roughly 70% more for electricity above that mark in the summer! As a rule of thumb, I've found that my final "rate" per kWh once the total bill is considered with all adjustments and "fees" etc. is about 3x the published rate. I am always under 650 kWh in the LOW tier so I am using 15 cents/kWh for my tests.
