If you don’t like yourself it’s hard to make people like you. When you try to get people’s approval, micromanage body-language, tone of voice, gestures, you struggle. The solution is self-amusement. Instead of trying to make others like you, make yourself like you. Do things that uplift you — watch movies that make you smile, read books that make you grow, experience new places. You don’t always have to put on a mask and try. Drop the trying and get into being. Don’t try to make people happy, be happy. Do things because you have good energy. They will get joy from being around you because you get joy from being around you.
