| Video Discription | Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers issued a citation to an unhoused individual for public camping at Venice Beach on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The officers had previously advised the individual to move a few hours earlier. Upon returning and finding that the individual had not relocated, the officers issued the citation for violating Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44. Following the citation, the individual began dismantling his tent and moving his belongings away from the beach and toward the boardwalk. During this time, the West Coast Care team, known for their dedicated efforts in supporting homeless individuals, arrived in their all-terrain vehicle. They engaged with the individual, offering services and support. West Coast Care is a prominent non-profit organization focusing on empowering homeless individuals by providing life-coaching, resources, and essential information to help them overcome obstacles and transition away from homelessness. The organization connects individuals with families, friends, and services in their places of origin through an extensive network. Committed to serving the homeless community in Santa Monica and Venice, the West Coast Care team tirelessly works to offer support, care, and guidance. They assist individuals in accessing crucial services and resources necessary to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44 prohibits erecting or maintaining tents in city parks except in designated camping areas.
