| Video Discription | Kathua, Sep 16 (ANI): Refugees from West Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest demanding ‘permanent resident’ status to take part in civic elections. Protesters under the banner of Association of Refugees from West Pakistan accused the state government of not taking any steps to address their grievance. The Hindu and Sikh refugees migrated from West Pakistan to Jammu city with their families in 1947, when the partition of India took place to escape religious persecution. They have been living in the city since then and have been demanding citizenship rights from the government of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 67 years. |
