| Video Discription | One of the greatest mysteries energies in the universe are the Fast Radio Bursts (FRB). FRBs are super fast short lived radio pulses that last no longer than a few milliseconds. They may have existed for billions of years, but were discovered only in 2007. And since then only a very few of them have ever been recorded. Until very recently these bursts were not known to follow a pattern But a new paper by the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment and Fast Radio Burst Project have found a repeated pattern to the FRBs. Between September 16, 2018 and October 30, 2019, they found these bursts occurred every 16.35 days. The burst would be repeated for every four days and then would go silent for about 12 days. Scientists are unsure what this pattern means but know that they are coming from a spiral galaxy 500 light years away. So far 28 such awake and sleep cycles have been detected Scientists so far believed that FRBs were produced from event like star collisions. But these new findings do not adhere to what scientists know about FRBs. |
