Bommai took oath in the presence of state Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. Son of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, SR Bommai, Basavaraj was appointed Karnataka's CM by the BJP high command on July 27, a day after BS Yediyurappa tendered his resignation. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhawan in Bengaluru.
